Eyes Before Terror (part 2)

Sooooo, continuing from the last blog about this band, this past weekend has brought some interesting news. First of all, the band officially added me as a full-time guitarist on Thursday, and then on Friday my friend's band, called The Excellence of Execution, invited us to play this Thursday in Ark City in a benefit show with them. Of course Michael and I were excited at the opportunity and talked with the band at practice the next day. Turns out the whole band thinks we're ready, and we gave them a call saying we'll play. They said we'll play at 5:30, gave us the info, and there we go.

It seems so unreal to have this coming together so quickly. I'm glad I had the chance to make friends with these bands before I joined EBT, so that once we were ready to play shows, we would have other bands asking us to play with them, a lot like what TEOE has done for us already. Hopefully this can turn into something much bigger by the end of summer.

This summer we've made plans to use our keyboardist's, Andrew's, basement as a small recording studio and record our EP, saving back a small band fund to supply recordable CDs and cases so we can get our first few songs recorded and out there to have something to sell at shows. Hopefully we can talk to other bands around the city and see how they got shirts printed, where they got shirts printed, and how much it cost.

There are plenty of local bands out of Wichita who I've personally become friends with, including The Excellence of Execution, Nothing is Everything, Ages, Autumn of Terror, Miss Frazier, No Remorse, Untapped Market, and In the Trenches. Most of these bands have made quite a big name for themselves in the local scene, especially Nothing is Everything (who got to play at The Cotillion with As I Lay Dying and Winds of Plague, making them the most well-known metal band in Wichita), Untapped Market (who were actually fairly big a couple of years ago, and who have reunited and plan on releasing a full-length album this summer), and In the Trenches (who are really close to being signed to a major label).

The only reason for the last paragraph is to say that the bands in Wichita are actually starting to get bigger, and I'm proud to finally be a part of it.
